Sean “Diddy” Sentenced to Four Years in U.S. Federal Prison

American music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to 50 months in federal prison after being convicted on charges linked to transporting individuals across state lines for sexual encounters. The judgment was delivered on Friday, October 3, by U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian in Manhattan.

Alongside the prison term, the 55-year-old rapper and entrepreneur was ordered to pay a $500,000 fine and will remain under supervised release for five years after serving his sentence. Combs, who has been in custody since September 2024, will have the 12 months he has already spent in detention credited.

During the sentencing hearing, Combs addressed the court with an emotional statement, apologizing to his family, supporters, survivors of abuse, and the women involved in the case. He admitted to personal struggles and expressed regret over his past actions.

Prosecutors had pressed for a far lengthier sentence—over 11 years—citing evidence of abuse, coercion, and violence presented during the trial. The defense, however, argued that the women involved were consenting adults and emphasized Combs’ prior struggles with substance abuse, while also requesting leniency based on time already served.

The former Bad Boy Records founder was acquitted earlier of more serious charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking, but found guilty on two counts connected to prostitution-related conduct.

Following the ruling, Combs’ legal team indicated that he plans to appeal both the conviction and the sentence.
