Somi – Skin to Skin (Interlude) Ft. Benjamin James
GRAMMY-nominated vocalist, songwriter, composer, and genre-blending artist Somi presents “Skin to Skin (Interlude),” a brief yet intimate piece featuring Benjamin James. The track appears as the eleventh song on her 13-track album, What Does It Take to Bloom?, released through Salon Africana. The project marks Somi’s first collection of original songs in six years and explores themes of growth, uncertainty, belonging, womanhood, and personal transformation.
“Skin to Skin (Interlude)” sits within the latter half of the album, following “Lay It Down” and preceding “We’re All Falling.” Its placement helps shape the album’s overall progression, contributing to the intimate and reflective atmosphere Somi creates throughout the project. Benjamin James, known as a member of Nigerian duo The Cavemen., also served as a co-producer on the album, adding another layer to Somi’s connection with contemporary African musical influences.
